Team Building Trip (English)

Friday evening at 6pm our team buliding trip started. We met at the sports hall in Tromsdalen. First we went by car to Hillesøya which took us about one hour. There we did the first we exercise in a small climbing park. Climb up a pole, stand on the platform and jump down, of course equipped with a climbing harness. If you thought the trip would stay that easy, you were proven wrong.

Our trip was accompanied by our coach and one guide. Both of them had a car though. At about 8:30 pm we got the first map and started walking. Everyone carrying her backpack but no food or mobile phone as these goods were taken from us. From now on water was the only thing we should consume. Luckily, I brought a beanie and a functional scarf as it was really cold. As a group we were to carry our tent and a first aid kit as well. Further, everyone got a pair of skiing glasses with non-see-through glass as some exercise had to be done blindfolded.

Throughout the trip there were no toilets or a shower, everything had to be done in the nature. On our way we faced different challenges, e.g. shooting balloons with a bow. For every successful challenge we got a small price. These prices were usually atable. The first one was one Snickers for 10 girls. As soon as we finished a challenge we got a new map and continued walking. Another challenge was forming a square out of a rope while everyone had to hold in the rope and was blindfolded.

At some point it was 2 am and we were sure that the next time we see our guide we would be allowed to set up the tent and get some sleep. That was not the case. He asked how it was going with our feet after five hours of walking but then he whipped out the next map und told us to walk further eight kilometres.

On the way I reached a point where I did not care anymore whether it was day or night. There was daylight anyways. There is no more midnight sun but yes there is daylight 24/7 in Tromsø. Still, I could barely keep my eyes open while walking.

Then finally we reached the place where we put up our tent. Before we where allowed to sleep for about three hours from 9 am to 12 we got the chance to fish. We caught one fish for all 10 girls and roasted it over the fire we made. That night we walked 30 km.

Our sleeping-place was located at a river with very clear water which you could drink unproblematically. Altogether we have been walking through wonderful nature but sadly could not take any pictures. I was waiting for a reindeer to pop up on the street but I did not see one yet.
Meanwhile we had reached Kvaløya after we had been to Sommarøya. Those are all small islands.

When we woke up we were lucky as we got to continue walking without our backpacks because we were to come back to our camp at the end of the day. During the day we had to solve some challenging exercises. Back at camp there was a banquet compared to the "meals" we got to that point: Sausages, corn cobs, meat, cucumber and scrambled eggs. We roasted all that over a fire we made which was so hot that we got scrambled eggs in less than one minute.

On this day we got the best price of the whole trip: one bottle Coke, one bottle Pepsi Max and a bag of sweets. To get this we had to form a square out of different wooden panels. Before we could go to sleep we had to fix our tent as it was about to topple down. We found a big branch, cut off all the smaller branches and from now on we had a new tent pole and the tent stood upright again.

On the last day one challenge was to carry one of us on a litter for three kilometres. Of course she was not really injured but on our way a car stopped by and they asked whether we needed help.
. After we reached another climbing park in Tromsøya we got to do the first challenge we did on Friday once again. This time blindfolded. Afterwards there was one more challenge but then we were done.  All in all we walked 52 km during our trip.

In the end we got Hotdogs from the barbecue before everyone went home again. If you do not look at all the mosquito bites in the face and elsewhere and a new level of tiredness everyone was undamaged :D It was a trip where we reached some limits but where able to overcome these and as a team solved all challenges.
